The plot of the film revolves around Isha, an 8-year-old Muslim girl who dreams of becoming an Olympic runner like Mary Kom played by Pooja Hegde (the director's daughter). The story is set in Dhanbad, Jharkhand. The film was released on 15 February 2017.The director conceived the idea for the film in 2008 after watching Shah Rukh Khan's sports drama Chak De India (2007), which was based on hockey player Sandeep Singh. Believing that India lacked films that portrayed the struggles of female athletes, Faisal wrote a script based on boxer Mary Kom and her family. Faisal came up with the title of "Ishaqzaade" (; Hindi: "Heroine of the Heart") refusing to adopt a conventional title such as "Mary Kom" as the latter was already taken. The name "Ishaqzaade" was inspired by a chapter from a book by Pandit Jasraj called Mirzyaad. The film's background score and soundtrack was composed by A. R. Rahman, who also wrote the lyrics for all songs, with Isha & Aslam Tariq composing the background score for "Mary Kom. The film's music was released by T-Series. In September 2012, Tamil actor Vijay Sethupathi was selected to play the role of Mary Kom's husband Onler Kom, but he refused as he wanted to concentrate on his acting career in Tamil films as well as lead a normal life. In August 2013, actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui was cast to play the role of Onler Kom, but was replaced by Ronit Roy in March 2015 because Siddiqui had a date issue. In September 2014, Mary Kom herself expressed that she wanted the female lead to be a newcomer and its Bollywood remake be made with Priyanka Chopra playing her role. cfa1e77820
